Wilbur: The King in the Ring is a comedic documentary, which wrestles with the worldwide obesity plight. Wilbur McDougall, a former pro-wrestler, agrees to let his best friend J. Ollie Lucks make a documentary about his gastric sleeve surgery and subsequent transformation. But in order to stay literally half the man he was, Wilbur will be forced to maintain a healthier lifestyle while Ollie’s altruistic intentions verge on exploitative.
Beautifully shot my Bevan Crothers, this is a great, charming documentary set in Dunedin. Watch free online on Maori TV on demand:

A great job by Motion Sickness Studio here with what would usually be a rather boring video about Architecture into a dynamic video with 'blueprint' style 3D drawings over the moving footage.
Directed by my good friend Jerry Rock-Archer, Union is a short doc about young Māori outsider living in Japan tackles cultural isolation using the universal language of rugby.
Living in a self-imposed exile from his home in New Zealand, Jared James finds himself struggling through crushing isolation in Japan. Union follows this small town boy through the challenges of an unfamiliar city to find out how a burgeoning rugby union scene offered him the chance to experience Japanese culture through a familiar lens – that is if he can learn to connect.
Munted is an unusual story about an accusation of pedophilia and its terrible consequences. Written and directed by Welby Ings, it is set in 1961 in a remote New Zealand community. It tells the story of a ten-year old girl and her friendship with a brain damaged artist. Based on an actual event and told through erosions between film and drawing, the film is a lyrical and brutal account of the cost of rumour and prejudice.
Although Munted won numerous international awards it was never screened in New Zealand because local festivals felt it was "too long, dark and unredeeming."
Awesome storytelling from Canadian Tire Corporation as part of its sponsorship for the Rio Olympics 2016.
The 60" advertisement opens on a group of young boys playing basketball. When one of the boys chases down an errant shot, he encounters a boy confined to a wheelchair.
The wheelchair-bound boy later finds a basketball sitting on his porch, and wheels himself over to where the boys are playing – only to find them playing in their own makeshift “wheelchairs.” The ad ends with the voiceover, “When the best of us steps us, our nation stands a little taller.”
My friend Ziga helped shoot this music video for TA-KU.
The team of DP's got some pretty great shots of different perspectives of our everyday lives..
I personally love the macro chemical shots Ziga captured... kind of looks like something from out of space...
I hate the term food porn but there no way else to describe this piece from Food Film. Love the macros and sound design! Would love to do an abstract food or baking piece like this for a client - very pretty indeed!
Joseph Michael's Antarctica - while you were sleeping piece took four years to create, and sees the Everest iceberg projected and mapped onto the museum's outer walls at full scale.
But the display isn't just visual - dozens of speakers and several surround sound systems are bringing the work to life.
A beautifully shot short has been shot by the team at Syrp to show you the four year process of bring this installation together...
Love this idea from AAA Insurance 'Car Selfie' Simple idea and well executed.
I love this short doco 'Home'. DP'ed by my friend Max Bellamy - the shots are breathtakingly beautiful.
